Though Memorial Day is for lounging by large bodies of water, there ain’t no sun here right now — so I spent this past long weekend in a 2 day intensive photoshop course led by two friends (1 photographer, 1 blogger) out of LA. They coin the traveling course, Blogshop, and it was impressively helpful (and stylish to boot). My primary reason for taking it is to supplement the Interaction Design program I’ll be attending in (gulp!) Texas this August. All of the many other reasons include lookbook styling, website edification and brand revamping for Stone + Smith. I met a ton of sweet people who were great sources of information, ideas, and inspiration. So many ideas! The brain and the sensors are flooded – and I’m grateful for it.
One of the teachers, Bri Emery of Design Love Fest, runs an advice column for freelancers that I’ve shared with many people and find useful.
The remainder of the weekend was spent watching the cra-azy thunderstorms that came through just before dinner time each night. On Saturday, we got 4 inches of rain in half an hour – all of which was preceded by lightening and thunder reminiscent of southern summer storms. I live for those… It made me homesick, for sure. I also got some quality time in drinking cocktails on patios with people I love — all signs that summer is most certainly on it’s way to our hood.
Anyways, good to be back to the blogosphere. I’m in the midst of sorting through one million ideas about the business with an eye to some pretty big changes on the horizon. Thanks for all the support and love. xo, mlc!
